Hugh Jackman, Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway star in this critically-acclaimed adaptation of the epic musical phenomenon. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells the story of ex-prisoner Jean Valjean (Jackman), hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe), after he breaks parole. The film tells the story of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who eventually becomes mayor of a town in France and owner of a factory in that town. He is always alert to the risk of being captured again by police inspector Javert, who is ruthless in hunting down law-breakers. One of his factory workers, Fantine, blames him for her being cast into a life of prostitution. When she dies, he feels responsible and agrees to take care of her illegitimate daughter, Cosette — though he must first escape Javert. Later, when Cosette is grown, they are swept up in the political turmoil in France, which culminates in the June Rebellion of France.

I went in to this movie skeptical. Could it possibly live up to the high expectations that the musical set? And the answer is an emphatic Yes! Tom Hooper's production of Les Miserables is one of the most impressive feats I have witnessed on Watch download movies free Les Misérables (2012) Unlike traditional filmed musicals, Les Miserables is sung live. This allows for some extremely powerful performances, particularly Hathaway as Fantine. While some may gripe at the extensive use of close-ups, I for one felt that it only magnified the performances. While Russell Crowe should probably not try out for Idol, his singing compliments his characters style. Overall I cannot recommend this movie enough!
